Carrots

Yes that right, you can give fresh, cooked and uncooked carrots to your Westie, they are especially good when given uncooked, crunchy and helps keep the teeth and gums clean. The good news is that carrots and not manufactured, they grow in the ground !!

Dogs (and humans) need protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals. Too much or too little of any may cause problems such as obesity, malnourishment, or even vitamin or mineral toxicity.

Types of Vegetables, we could divide these up into two categories, they are called high glycemic (sugars) and low glycemic.

Glycemic Vegetables
Dark leafy greens, Summer squash, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts, Green Beans, Cucumber, Celery.
High Glycemic Vegetables
Carrots, Winter Squash (hard rind squashes), Green Peas, Potatoes (very high), Parsnips, Rutabagas, Corn, Beets, Sweet Potatoes

So.. You can give carrots occasionally as treats, but don't go overboard "A Little OF Something Does You Good"

Preparation

Dogs have difficulty with fermenting and breaking down some vegetables, so we try to prepare vegetables to allow them to be utilized as fully as possible. This is achieved by several methods, including cooking, steaming, pulverizing
