Puppy Feeding 2
Young Westie pups, will at first eat as if there is no tomorrow, do not be
tempted to re-fill the bowl when young eat-a-lot has swallowed the lot in 2-3
gulps. Westie pups can be fed with scrambled egg, Porridge
and other light foods, rice mixed with the meat is ideal. Change over to
junior then adult foods at the correct age, and slowly introduce the new food
over a weeks period.
Puppies have a special feeding requirements, they need a larger amount of
food to the body weight, but they're stomachs are too small to take in large quantities
of food. It is for this reason the food given should be concentrated, this
becomes difficult if you are feeding home made meals.
Exactly how much food to
give is difficult to say, an individual puppy's needs may vary. Allowing your
puppy to cram food to put on weight could lead to bone disorders. If you are
not sure, talk to your local vet.
