West Highland White, Hair

scizzorsHair should be removed from around the pads, it can get thick and matted, catching dirt, and making it difficult for your Westie to walk without being uncomfortable.

A blunt nose scissors could be used for this, carefully removing the hair a little at a time. Your Westie might not be too pleased with this work, as his paws are very sensitive, so take your time and give encouragement.

You could also use an electric hair clipper, but the ones pacifically for nose hair is much safer and can get in between the pads easier than a large clipper.
