Skin Problems
I have received a lot of mail in the
past asking for information on skin problems. Westie's do
suffer from skin problems but this does not mean your
Westie will. Statistically there are not many who do. You need to identify
the cause of the skin problem, this can range from a reaction from flea
infestation to mange.
If you spot a small skin blemish on your Westie,
take him/her along to your vet for examination. Usually even the most severe
problems can be controlled if not cured. One of the product used for a
mild skin condition is Hibbiscrub?, available on prescription only.
Be aware
that this shampoo is only available from a vet and should not be used unless
prescribed by a vet. When shampooing your dog at all other times, make sure you use
a mild shampoo. One that was manufactured for babies is ideal.
