Orange Stripe

Orange stripe, Yes there has also been a few visitors who reported that they're Westie's have developed an orange stripe down the full length of they're Westie's back. Sometimes this is accompanied by "Black heads"  this condition could be Seborrhoeic dermatitis and is treated with a special shampoo called "Malaseb?" an Antibacterial & Antifungal shampoo.

As before this shampoo should only be used if prescribed by a vet, it costs around ?8.00 (UK 11/04/01) per 250 Ml and needs to be used regular for 12 weeks. The treatment may also include antibiotics.

If your Westie has a small amount of orange on the top of his back, talk to your vet before the condition gets worse. The use of "Evening primrose oil" can help control this condition, but you need to be told by your vet if you should use it and what quantity.

Never use Human shampoos like "Anti dandruff" or any other human products, you can do more damage this way, Talk to your vet at all times. Tea Tree oil Shampoo (Asda) is also a good product, and much cheaper in a supermarket than a pat shop
