Neutering or Spaying
Spaying, Spaying your pet reduces her chances of developing breast cancer and
eliminates the threat of uterine and ovarian cancer and of uterine
infection. Pyometra,
Mammary Tumors Neutering, Neutering your male dog prevents
testicular tumours and may prevent prostate problems.
Each year, thousands of unwanted dogs are euthanased
at shelters across the country. Most of these were the result of accidental
breeding by free-roaming, un-neutered pets. I for one do not believe for one
minuet that the large amount of dogs euthanased each year, is the direct result of a accidental
breeding by Westie's. I don't think you do either.
It is very sad that so many dogs
are euthanased, and
responsible guardians should naturally take all reasonable steps to prevent
this from ever happening. The facts are there are quite a lot of guardians who
simply do not take steps to prevent this. They allow they're dogs to roam
free, walk them without a lead, and generally do not care one way or the
other.
