Neutering or Spaying

Will you let your Westie roam free ?, Will you walk your Westie without a lead ?, Will you take no steps to prevent your Westie from getting out of your garden ?, If the answer is yes, then I guess sadly your Westie needs to be Neutered/Spayed.

Not much to add for Spaying, there are some guardians that do not want the trouble associated with a female twice yearly heat period. If you find your Westie urinates all over your furniture regular, will you have an operation to stop this ?.

Well silly as this sounds, why are you considering Spaying for the wrong reasons ?.

So what do the vets say ? Although there is always some risk involved, the anaesthetics currently used by modern veterinary hospitals are very safe. The medical benefits of having your pet spayed or neutered far outweigh the slight risk involved with undergoing Anaesthesia. Medical benefits remember that !

So if your Westie has a medical problem "Now" then yes you must have the operation done as soon as possible. However if your Westie's is healthy with no medical condition associated with this operation, then this small risk is too great a risk to take for something that only "might" happen in the future.

I hear from too many people, with sad reports of their Westie dying under the anaesthetic
