Catching Fleas
If placed on a piece of wet tissue or blotting paper, the dirt
will tend to dissolve and create reddish rings. One of the major problems in
combating fleas is that they spend relatively little time on the hosts but
remain hidden in the environment for long periods.
You might see a flea rushing through the hair of the dog around
the base of the tail a favored site on the body.
Special flea combs are
available, but such is the athicticisin of fleas that even when detected, they
are extremely difficult to catch.
If you have an empty small container, fill it with water before you start grooming the dog (preferably outside) and keep it close at hand.
Should a flea appear, it can be transferred to the water, from which it should
be unable to escape.
