Catching Ticks
Poor
Scamp got a few when out walking in the local park one summer (July) The park is
a favourite place to take dogs for long walks, he visited some bushes for a
short period and became infected.
I do not recommended that you try to remove them yourself, pulling on a tick can
result in the head remaining behind and will cause further infection. Normal flea shampoo had no effect on them,
A quick
visit to the vet and they were cleared completely. No more visits to that park
for him.
Sometimes they can be killed with covering them with Vaseline. Bob
Martin? flea and tick shampoo is also very good.
Sheep ticks are visible to the naked eye, but they're bodies are
often mistaken for small warts or cysts when the heads are buried in a dog's skin. They become most
obvious when the bodies swell with sucked blood.
