Tapeworm
Tapeworm Taenia, This tapeworm can grow up to 3mm
in length and live in the dogs intestine. A great number of intermediate hosts are
infected by eating the eggs shed by dogs. Cysts develop in various areas depending on the
species involved.
Dogs become infected by
eating the tissues of the intermediate hosts that contain the infected cysts. Most
infected dogs go unnoticed. Tapeworm have little public health risks and control is by
regular worming.
